Waste decomposer – How to make and use waste decomposer
National Center of Organic Farming (NCOF) in Ghaziabad has made a product named Waste Decomposer that can be used for quick composting from organic waste, soil health improvement & as a plant protection agent. It is a consortium of a few beneficial microorganisms which is isolated by Dr. Krishan Chandra from Desi Cow Dung and took 11 years to standardize the mass multiplication technique at the farm level. Waste decomposer works as Biofertiliser, Biocontrol, and as well as Soil Health Reviver.
In short as the name suggest waste decomposer is a culture, it is a consortium of microorganism extracted from desi cow dung. It can be used for quick composting from organic waste like leaves, remains of roots and stalks after harvesting, fruits, flowers, fruit & vegetable peel, cow dung, agriculture waste like chaff, etc.
Although this product is made for farmers, you don’t hesitate to use it in your Terrace garden as it has got amazing benefits and it can work wonders for your plants.
How to prepare waste decomposer
Here’s the NCOF recipe to make a waste decomposer solution, this solution is the basis of all possible usages of the product.
- Take 2 kg jaggery and mixed it in a plastic drum containing 200 liters of water.
- Now take 1 bottle of waste decomposer and pour all its contents in a plastic drum containing jaggery solution. Avoid direct contact with contents with hands.
- Mix it properly with a wooden stick for uniform distribution of waste decomposer in a drum.
- Cover the drum with a piece of paper or cardboard and stir it every day once or twice for 3-4 days.
- After 5-7 days the solution of the drum turns creamy/pale yellow.
Once the above mixture is prepared you may never have to purchase the waste decomposer bottle again as you may prepare the waste decomposer solution again and again from this solution. For this, 20 liters of waste decomposer solution is added to a drum with 2 kg of jaggery, and 20-liter water is added.
If you keep on saving 20 liters of this solution, then you will have a waste decomposer solution for your lifetime.
How to use waste decomposer in your terrace garden
There are many ways you can use waste decomposers in your terrace garden but since this post is all about feeding your plants, the following are the do-it-yourself fertilizers that you can make at home using waste-decomposer:
Waste decomposer solution recipe for terrace garden: Take a 20-liter plastic bucket and put 10-liter water, 100-gram jaggery, 1-2 teaspoonfuls of waste decomposer, cover it with a cotton cloth, and leave it in shade for 7 days but stir the mixture twice daily with a wooden stick.
After 7 days your waste decomposer solution is ready to use as follows:
Micronutrients foliar spray

Liquid manure using kitchen waste
Ingredients:
- Wet kitchen waste like vegetable and fruit peels, flowers, etc.
- About 1 part jaggery compared with the quantity of above waste.
- Waste decomposer solution
Method:
Take a plastic bucket and fill all your kitchen waste and jaggery proportionately. Then add a waste decomposer solution so that all the kitchen waste is soaked. Cover it with a cotton cloth. Now keep adding kitchen waste every day and waste decomposer solution if required to soak further. Once the bucket is full, leave the mixture for 10 days and restart the process in another bucket. After 10 days using a cloth collect the liquid.
Application:
Take 1 part of this liquid with 10 parts of water or 100 ml of liquid with 1 liter of water. Apply this solution directly to your container’s potting mix weekly or bi-weekly.
Moringa foliar spray
Ingredients:
- Fresh green Moringa leaves about 5kg
- Waste decomposer solution 20 liter
Method:
- Grind moringa leaves to make a fine green paste, add little water if needed for grinding. In a plastic container with a cover or bucket, mix moringa green paste and waste decomposer solution using a wooden stick.
- Cover the solution and leave it for 7-10 days. During this period stir the solution well using a wooden stick 2 times a day.
- After 10 days using a cloth or sieve, collect the liquid and store it in an air-tight bottle.
- The solid part can be further put into the kitchen waste decomposition bucket or can be used as a soil amendment.
Application:
Take 1 part of this liquid with 10 parts of water or 100 ml of liquid with 1 liter of water. Spray over plants weekly or bi-weekly.
Now you must be thinking that I would rather use the moringa foliar spray mentioned earlier in this post. You certainly can but this one will offer more benefits as the microbial activity in waste decomposers will enable faster absorption of the nutrients from the moringa leaves.
